Select Headhunter is partnering with a growing manufacturing client to recruit an experienced Polymer Production Manager. This is a hands-on leadership role overseeing polymer production operations, ensuring product quality, safety and efficiency while driving continuous improvement across the plant. Job Responsibilities
Oversee day-to-day polymer production operations to meet production targets, quality standards and delivery schedules.
Lead, coach and develop production supervisors and operators; manage staffing, shift allocation and performance.
Implement and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions and best practices for safe, efficient production.
Monitor key production metrics (yield, throughput, downtime, scrap) and drive initiatives to improve productivity and reduce waste.
Coordinate maintenance, troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for process equipment to minimize unplanned downtime.
Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental regulations; lead safety initiatives and incident investigations.
Work closely with quality assurance to ensure product meets specifications and manage non-conformance resolution.
Manage raw material usage, inventory controls and coordination with procurement to support continuous production.
Lead or support process improvement projects (Lean, Six Sigma or similar) to optimize cost and capability.
Prepare production reports, budgets and forecasts; present performance updates to senior management.
Job Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, Industrial Engineering or related technical discipline.
Minimum 5+ years’ experience in polymer/plastics manufacturing or related chemical production, with at least 2 years in a supervisory/managerial role.
Strong knowledge of polymer processing methods (extrusion, compounding, injection molding or similar) and process control.
Proven track record in driving productivity improvements, yield optimization and cost reduction initiatives.
Working knowledge of quality management systems and regulatory/safety requirements relevant to chemical/manufacturing plants.
Experience with maintenance coordination, troubleshooting mechanical and process issues.
Analytical mindset with experience using production KPIs, root cause analysis and continuous improvement tools (Lean, Six Sigma desirable).
Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills; able to motivate teams and manage change.
Proficient in MS Office; familiarity with manufacturing execution systems (MES) or ERP is a plus.
Willingness to work shift patterns as required by production schedules.
